Bayport-Blue Point School District's Board of Education adopted the $63.6 million budget for 2011-'12 on April 5 at the final budget meeting.
Approximately $3 million in reductions have been put in place to reduce the tax levy to 3.99 percent, with a budget-to-budget increase of $1.67 million (2.7 percent). All of the aid expected to be received by New York State for 2011-12 has been applied to reduce the tax levy.

If the budget is voted down, district officials will have three choices: they can immediately adopt a contingency budget, they can put the same proposed budget up for a vote again or they can alter the details of the budget for a new vote.
A contingency budget would require the district to cut costs by an additional $1.2 million.
Board Election
The Carol Cinelli, Diane D'Angelo and Dr. Anthony Donatelli would normally have been re-occupied come July, but due to the passing of a referendum calling for the reduction of the board from nine to seven members, the candidates can only race for Cinelli's seat. Both Cinelli and Dr. Donatelli chose not to run again.
