For decades Poppa Mia's Ice House in West Sayville has been a favorite spot to grab a delicious Italian ice treat.

Now it’s also quickly becoming a favorite spot to get a healthy and invigorating breakfast.

Just about two weeks ago Jason Mazzarone, a chef in the family-run business, decided to open up a morning business offering Acai berry breakfast bowls, waffles and smoothies from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. seven days a week.

Mazzone, who had been working as a chef on the west coast and is now working for a high-tier eatery in Babylon after returning home to Sayville, wanted to start his own business.

The menu features an Acai bowl, a super rich blend of vitamins and nutrients served with Mazzarone’s homemade granola, and ski waffles (hot sugar waffles that can be topped with various toppings.)

The new breakfast stop is clearly winning fans as Patch received an email immediately after the opening.

“Delicious!!” wrote Steve Rowland in an email to Patch early this week.

“I got an Acai Bowl with all fresh fruit, granola all in basically an Acai smoothie, topped with honey and shaved coconut. Needless to say, I feel a lot better than after I eat my usual egg sandwich for breakfast, and it took about three minutes from the time I parked my car and got back in it.”
