Astorino Meets With Jewish Leaders To Discuss Recent Threats

He said some of them may just be pranks, but they are all taken seriously.

SCARSDALE, NY — County Executive Robert Astorino met with leaders of Westchester synagogues and community center Thursday in Scarsdale and pledged his support to local Jewish communities.

At Shaarei Tikvah synagogue, Astorino said he was concerned about what has happened around the county recently, saying that some of it was a prank, but that it was all being taken seriously, the Journal News said.

He assured the group that efforts are being made for authorities to increase their presence at Jewish institutions.

Two JCCs in Tarrytown and New Rochelle were among others around the nation that received bomb threats Monday. There have also been reports of anti-Semitic symbols being painted on school property in Lewisboro and public property in White Plains.
