Hoff-Barthelson Music School (HBMS) will open its 2026–2027 HB Artist Series on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 7:30 pm in the School’s Joan Behrens Bergman Auditorium. The concert will feature HBMS faculty members Andrew Marino, guitar, joined by guest pianist Jessica Marino, and Emily White, piano,
The program brings together works by Anton Diabelli, Charles Tomlinson Griffes, Yehudi Wyner, and Samuel Barber, offering audiences a wide-ranging evening of music for guitar and piano.
Diabelli’s music reflects the elegance, clarity, and melodic appeal of the Classical tradition, while Griffes brings a distinctly American voice colored by lush harmonies and an impressionistic sensitivity to atmosphere. Wyner’s music adds a more contemporary perspective, marked by rhythmic vitality, expressive contrasts, and imaginative musical dialogue. Barber—one of America’s most celebrated composers—rounds out the program with music known for its lyricism, emotional depth, and memorable melodic writing.
Together, the selections highlight the expressive range of the featured instruments and create a program that moves between Classical refinement, evocative early-20th-century color, and modern American musical language.
The HB Artist Series celebrates the artistry of Hoff-Barthelson’s distinguished faculty. Through programs spanning a broad range of periods, styles, and instrumental and vocal traditions, the series allows audiences to experience the accomplished musicians who bring their professional expertise and passion to the HBMS community.
The concert will take place at Hoff-Barthelson Music School, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale, New York. General admission is $20, and HBMS students may attend free of charge.
