• Shelter Island hotel guest found dead in water after swim, police say (newsday.com) — A Manhattan visitor staying at a Shelter Island hotel was found dead Wednesday morning under a dock in Shelter Island Sound after failing to return from a swim near Crescent Beach. Local police, neighboring fire departments, and the Coast Guard searched the area before divers recovered his body, and authorities say the apparent drowning appears accidental while the medical examiner completes its investigation.
