2 People And A Cat Escape Burning Long Island Home: Report

The fire drew nine different fire departments to the scene, News 12 reported.

RIDGE, NY — Two people and a cat escaped from a burning home in Ridge on Thursday night, News 12 reported.

Officials told News 12 that the fire started outside on the front porch of the Ridge Road home but then quickly spread to the inside after the front windows broke.

Three people live in the house, including a couple on the top floor, and one man, who lives in a basement apartment, Ridge Fire Chief Wesley Phillips told the news outlet.

A pregnant woman on the top floor who was at home at the time, as well as the man who lives in basement, and a cat got out of the home safely, the outlet reported.

Altogether firefighters from nine different agencies responded to the scene, according to News 12.

Suffolk police said the fire broke out at about 8:35 p.m. and the cause is under investigation by the Arson Squad.
