2nd Man ID’d In 1 Of 2 Deadly Long Island Crashes Last Week
A 27-year-old from Mastic died at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and William Floyd Parkway in Shirley on Oct. 12, police say.
SHIRLEY, NY — A 27-year-old Mastic man has been identified as one of two men who were killed in two separate crashes — struck on roadways in one deadly night on Long Island last week, Suffolk police said.
Police said Elias Gonzalez has been identified as the pedestrian who was killed at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and William Floyd Parkway in Shirley on Oct. 12.
Hazrat Kahn was driving a Honda Odyssey that struck Gonzalez at about 11:30 p.m., police said, adding that Kahn stopped the mini-van on the side of the road and got out to help Gonzalez, but a southbound BMW sedan driven by Edward Deoliveira struck him a second time.

Gonzelez was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician’s assistant from the county Medical Examiner's office, police said. Kahn, 21, and Deoliveira, 78, both of Shirley, were not injured according to police. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
Glenn Ohlinger, 66, of Coram, was struck by an alleged drunken driver in Coram about two hours earlier, police said.

At about 9:35 p.m., Jason Hank was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla northbound on Route 112, about 1,000 feet south of Pine Road, when the car struck Ohlinger in the roadway, police said. Ohlinger was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Hank, 24, of Port Jefferson Station was charged with driving while intoxicated.
