Hateful Sexual Graffiti Scrawled In Suffolk School Break-In: Cops

The group of males, whose faces were covered, drew graffiti on cabinets and a whiteboard inside a classroom, police said.

SHIRLEY, NY — Suffolk police detectives from the Hate Crimes Unit are looking for four people they say broke into a school in Shirley and scrawled graffiti that was racial and sexual in nature back in September.

Police said four males went inside of Hobart S. Elementary School on Van Buren Street on Sept. 26 at 2 a.m. and drew graffiti on cabinets and a whiteboard in a classroom. Police did not provide specific details about the graffiti.

The four can be seen in surveillance video wearing dark-colored clothing, as well as hoodie sweatshirts, and had their faces covered.

The four are being sought for burglary, a felony, according to a news release from police.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
