Due to pre-existing circumstances, a law investigator was called to the scene for further legal action, town spokesman says.

MASTIC, NY — Between six and eight chicks perished in the fire that drew area firefighters to a Mastic home early Saturday, Town of Brookhaven Spokesman Drew Scott told Patch Tuesday.
"Due to pre-existing circumstances, a law investigator was called to the scene for further legal action," Scott added.
The fire marshal's office declined to elaborate further.

When officers from the 7th Precinct in Shirley arrived at the scene, they found the structure engulfed in flames, according to a police spokesperson.
Mastic firefighters found the fire in the backyard, and the blaze was extinguished, with the scene cleared, and all of the firefighters were back in service, in under two hours, the department said in a Facebook post.
Assistant Chief Rudy Sunderman Jr. said that he could not be sure what the structure was, and noted that the cause of the fire is undetermined.
No injuries were reported, police said.
In addition to Suffolk and Mastic, altogether, five different agencies responded, including the Brookhaven Fire Department, and Brookhaven Fire Marshal's office.
The Mastic Volunteer Ambulance Company was called to the scene in case of injuries.
