• Concern, Though Hope And Prayers, For LI Islamic Center Congregation Where Vandal Scrawled Hateful Graffiti (patch.com) — Residents in Shirley are rallying around the Islamic Center of Mastic and Shirley after a banner at the new William Floyd Parkway mosque site was defaced with anti-Muslim graffiti. Local and state officials, including the governor, condemned the act as hate, while Suffolk police increased patrols and Crime Stoppers is offering a reward as the congregation boosts security, especially for children.
   

• 2 Hurt In 2-Vehicle Crash On William Floyd Parkway: Police (patch.com) — Drivers in Shirley saw two separate crashes Sunday, including a collision at William Floyd Parkway and Moriches-Middle Island Road that sent two Mastic residents to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Later that day, a car and motorcycle driven by Shirley residents collided at Mastic Boulevard and Mastic Road, though neither person was hurt.
