Brookhaven, Islip Make Up More Than Half Of Suffolk's COVID Cases

Brookhaven tops the cases with 101,847 cases and Islip comes in a close second with 80,145 cases. Suffolk's total is 330,786.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — As COVID-19 continues to surge in Suffolk, Brookhaven and Islip towns made up for more than half of the county's 330,786 positive cases on Sunday, according to the county's COVID tracker website.

Brookhaven tops the county's cases with 101,847 cases and Islip comes in a close second with 80,145 cases. Babylon has 48,803, Huntington 40,290, and Smithtown 25,631, helping round off the five towns with the highest amount of cases.

On the less populated East End, Southampton has 10,059 cases, Riverhead 6,036, East Hampton 3,385, and Southold 2,608. Shelter Island has the least amount of cases in the county with only 115 people testing positive for the virus.

The county's numbers include presumptive positive cases with a confirmed address. Cases without confirmed addresses are noted are not represented on the county's website. The county's website does not include cases that are pending from the state's Department of Health.
