DWI Charge For Coram Woman After She Crashes Vehicle Into Snowplow, Seriously Hurting Herself: Police
She will be arraigned at a later date, Suffolk police say.
MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — A Coram woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated after she crashed her vehicle into a snowplow and was seriously hurt on Sunday morning, Suffolk police said.
Erika Jackson was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Middle Country Road in Middle Island when her vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane in front of a location on Middle Country Road, and struck an eastbound New York State DOT snowplow at around 5:20 a.m., according to police.
Jackson, 25, of Coram, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment and will be arraigned at a later date, police said, adding that the snowplow driver, a 42-year-old from Mastic Beach, was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries.

The Chevrolet was impounded for a safety check, and the snowplow was inspected at the scene by Motor Carrier Safety Section officers, according to police.
