Fire Breaks Out At Middle Island Apartment Complex
The fire was called in just after 2 p.m., and Arson Squad detectives were called to the scene, Suffolk police say.
MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — A fire broke out at a Middle Island apartment complex Sunday afternoon, drawing area firefighters to the scene.
The fire started at the Fairfield apartments on Fairview Circle just after 2 p.m., Suffolk police said.
All residents had made it out to safety by the time firefighters arrived, but there was heavy smoke throughout the building, and they eventually had to leave the building after the second floor collapsed, according to a report by Stringer News. A photo tweeted by the outlet shows the building has been gutted.

Suffolk's Arson Squad was called to the scene to investigate, a police spokeswoman said. No additional information was immediately available from police.
