Firefighters Battle Fire At Middle Island Home
The fire started with a woodburning stove in the basement, but no one was hurt, Suffolk police said.
MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — A fire broke out at a Middle Island home on Friday, drawing area firefighters, Suffolk police said.
The fire broke out at an Oakcrest Avenue home at about 10:45 a.m., police said, adding that it appears to have started from a wood burning stove in the basement. Firefighters from the Middle Island Fire Department were able to get the fire under control and extinguish the flames, police said.
No one was injured.

Investigators have deemed the fire's cause non-criminal in nature, police said.
