RIVERSIDE, NY — A Mastic man has been found guilty of weapons possession stemming from a shooting in Shirley back in August of last year, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said Thursday.

Tyriek Corbin, 24, was found guilty after a trial on Tuesday of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, Tierney's office said.

Evidence established at trial found that Corbin was in an argument with two people, who were in a vehicle searching for a lost French Bulldog puppy on Lockwood Drive in Shirley on Aug. 14 at around 5:15 p.m., according to Tierney's office.

The argument escalated to the point that Corbin briefly went inside a home on Lockwood Drive before returning with a loaded firearm moments later, Tierney's office said, adding that he then fired the gun multiple times at the vehicle, even as the driver tried to drive away, and bullets struck it three times.

No one was injured, but the vehicle suffered ballistics damage, Tierney's office said.

His attorney, Kevin Maccarone of Glen Cove, could not be immediately reached for comment.

Corbin is due back in court for sentencing on June 14.

Following his conviction, Tierney's office asked Corbin be remanded into custody, as he faces a minimum of three and a half years in prison, but the court did not alter his bail conditions and allowed him to remain at liberty.
