• Remodeling Underway On Portion Of South Port Shopping Center In Shirley (patch.com) — Shirley shoppers will soon see a refreshed look at the South Port Shopping Center's northeast pad, where storefronts like Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Buffalo Wild Wings are getting remodeled. The work coincides with construction of a new Home Goods store, expected to open this fall and bring more discounted housewares options to eastern Suffolk County. 
• Traffic Frustration Boils Over In Mastic-Shirley (southshorepress.com) — Daily traffic headaches in Mastic-Shirley are pushing local leaders and residents to demand new railroad crossings and major fixes along William Floyd Parkway and Sunrise Highway. At a packed Manor Park Civic Association meeting, officials urged residents to pressure state leaders and the MTA, arguing the peninsula's tens of thousands of people can't keep relying on just two main crossings.
