Marckesano, 38, was charged with second-degree robbery and three counts of third-degree burglary, all felonies, as well as two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
He was busted along with another man in February 2022 for swiping 50 catalytic converters from Holtsville and Medford, then again in February for taking the expensive auto parts off of recreational vehicles in Wading River, District Attorney Ray Tierney's office confirmed.
DA spokeswoman Tania Lopez Marckesano said that Marckesano was released after allegedly committing the theft of the catalytic converters due to the new bail laws.
He was arraigned post indictment and released, Lopez said, adding that while released, Marckesano allegedly committed the crimes of burglary and robbery, and was arrested again.
Marckesano was held overnight Wednesday at the 6th Precinct in Selden and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
Prosecutors plan to advance the indicted case and ask for Marckesano to be remanded to jail tomorrow, Lopez said.
The investigation is continuing, police said.
Anyone who has additional information, or believes they may have been a victim, is asked to call 7th Squad detectives at 631-852-8752.
