Six Area Fire Departments Respond To Mastic Beach Fire
Two cars were damaged by a fire involving a two-car detached garage, according to the Mastic Fire Department.
MASTIC BEACH, NY — Firefighters from six area departments responded to garage fire at a Mastic Beach home on Monday — one of two fires to strike the hamlet in two days.
The fire broke inside at a two-car detached garage on Woodcut Drive and Pinecut Avenue at about 12 p.m., and when firefighters arrived, they began to "aggressively attack the fire," and quickly knocked it down, according to a post on the Mastic Fire Department's Chemical Engine 1's Facebook page.
The Mastic Beach, Brookhaven, Center Moriches, and East Moriches fire departments provided mutual aid, while the Yaphank fire department, was on standby for district-wide coverage. Mastic and Shirley ambulance responded for firefighter rehab.

Suffolk police Arson Squad detectives responded, as well as the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal's office.
A fire also broke out at a two-story home on Maple Road on Saturday night. No one was injured, but the fire department said there are unconfirmed reports that pets did not survive the fire. The fire is believed to be accidental in nature, but remains under investigation by the Arson Squad, a police spokeswoman said.
