SMITHTOWN, NY — Fourth graders at Accompsett Elementary School in the Smithtown Central School District are sharing their love this Valentine’s Day, the district announced.

Mrs. Hennessy and Mr. Pelosi’s class heard about a 104-year-old veteran living in California who was asking for Valentine’s cards. The class learned about Major Bill White, and how he fought in Iwo Jima during World War II. The students sent messages filled with positive thoughts and thanked him for his bravery and service to the country.
