SMITHTOWN, NY — A maintenance worker at a senior apartment complex in Smithtown was arrested Friday after Suffolk police say he stole from a resident and possessed stolen property belonging to other residents.

Leonard Marino, 31, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested after officers looked into thefts at Siena Village Apartment Complex on Bishops Road, police said. Marino stole medication from an apartment on Aug. 1 and possessed stolen jewelry which he sold to pawn shops on Sept. 18 and Sept. 24, police said. He was also seen entering an apartment without permission on Nov. 23, police said.

Officers believe Marino entered apartments when residents were not home or tricked people to allow him into their apartments, police said.
