Boy Scout Troop 322 Giving Thanks this Holiday Season

Boy Scout Troop 322, Commack, helping other have a Happy Thanksgiving and Holiday Season...

On Sunday November 16. 2014, the Boy Scouts of Troop 322 Commack, held their 4th annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. As in past years the event was hosted by Shoprite of Commack located at 1 Garet Place, Commack, NY. Starting at 9:00am and barring the cold, our Scouts worked in two groups, one group at the main entrance handing out flyers announcing our presence and another group near the main exit cheerfully accepting donations from generous donors. Along with donations of food, the scouts collected approximately $100. in cash, which we then used to buy even more food! At the close of the event 4 hours later, our scouts had collected an astounding 1,060 lbs. of food!! The food our scouts collected will benefit local food pantries including Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Commack and the Suffolk County Department Social Services which will distribute the food to needy families in our community.
