JWG's Grand Hodgepodge — Minerals (a poem)

Wherein JWG admits that minerals have a home in his pocket.

104. Minerals

Minerals
Have always found a home in my pocket.
My gems of the Earth.

Gathering pebbles
That catch the eye in the depths of clear brooks
With no regard to perils.

Slipping off of mossy rocks
To fetch that fleck of gleaming gold one sees
Is worth being dunked in cold water.

Fingers grasping a handful of mud
Is the reward one has for getting wet.
The gleaming seen was a rock full of mica.

Putting this bit of sparkle
In a safe spot to examine later
To make sure no hidden gold was missed.

Hunting Minerals
Is a magnet to furthering knowledge
When one looks between the bits.

My pebbles
From around the World rest in my Gardens.
Pockets are empty.
