Flash Flood Watch Issued as Heavy Rain Approaches

Up to 4 inches of rain may fall in some areas through Wednesday afternoon.

A flash flood watch goes into effect at midnight Wednesday for all of Long Island, according to the National Weather Service.

Up to 4 inches of rain may fall in some areas through Wednesday afternoon, the NWS said. The flash flood watch is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A coastal flood advisory is also in effect from 9 p.m. Tuesday until 1 a.m. Wednesday for areas along the shore in Nassau and southwestern Suffolk.

Showers are expected to become heavy at times late Tuesday and into Wednesday morning or early Wednesday afternoon, according to the NWS. Total rainfall is expected to be between 1.5-3 inches across the region, with up to 4 inches possible.
