Holiday Food Drive
Drop off canned and non-perishable foods at your local Long Island McDonald's through December 29th. Donations go to Long Islanders in need

West Babylon, NY — November 24, 2014 —Big Macs and fries are not the only food that
will be found at Long Island McDonald’s restaurants this holiday season. For the 5th consecutive year, McDonald’s will hold its Holiday Food Drive to benefit Island Harvest, Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization.
Long Island McDonald’s restaurants are accepting non-perishable food items through
December 29th, 2014 to help local families that are struggling to make ends meet, enjoy a brighter,
more nutritious holiday season. Items needed include canned goods, non-perishable food items, powdered milk, and baby formula. Product collected will benefit the 570 soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters and other emergency feeding programs it serves across Long Island.
“Unfortunately, hunger has become a year-round issue on Long Island, and during the holiday season, the need to help struggling families becomes that much greater,” said Randi Shubin Dresner, president and CEO of Island Harvest. “With a large presence on Long Island, McDonald’s annual holiday food drive is a critical component to our Turkey and Trimmings Collection Campaign. McDonald’s customers can conveniently drop-off food at any location on Long Island.”
“We are happy to partner with Island Harvest in addressing the critical issue of hunger in our communities,” said Luciana Montuoro, Long Island McDonald’s Marketing and Public Relations Director. “In these trying economic times where many families are faced with challenges in putting food on the table and paying bills, it is our hope that we are able to help make the holidays a little nicer and more promising.
