JWG's Tomorrow Today — I Liked to Drink (a poem)
Wherein JWG remembers the best beverage made from water.
I Liked to Drink
Sprinkling the lawn on a hot day
Not only resuscitates grass,
It cools off my hot, tired feet.
I’m entranced by the rhythmic arc
Of splashing liquid around me.
I hope the day won’t come
When we won’t have water
For ornamental plants —
Never mind for bathing —
Or, for that matter, blood.
I liked to drink
A beverage
Made from water.
It was fresh milk —
With chocolate.
