Lake Grove Man Hurt in Fatal Centereach Crash

A Holtsville man was killed in a Centereach crash early Saturday that also injured two others, police said.

According to police, Samir Patel, 51, was in a 2009 Ford van, facing southbound on the right shoulder of the northbound lane of Nicolls Road, when he attempted to drive the vehicle around to go northbound and his vehicle was struck by a 2004 Ford van at 1:15 a.m.

The 2004 Ford van, driven by David Greene, was entering Nicolls Road northbound from Middle Country Road.

Patel, 51, of Holtsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Oswaldo Borja, 64, of Holtsville, and Greene, 56, of Lake Grove, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
