Man 'Closely Followed' Middle School Student In Smithtown
The student reported the incident on Monday afternoon.
SMITHTOWN, NY - A middle school student was reportedly followed by a man in Smithtown on Monday afternoon.
According to a letter from the Smithtown School District, a man in his 60's, driving a 4-door white sedan, was "closely following" the student along Oakside Road.
The man then asked the student, “Do you need help getting home?”

The student is safe and Suffolk Police have been notified.
"Please be aware of this suspicious incident, and discuss with your children the importance of safe behavior around strangers, including reporting behavior that makes them uncomfortable," officials said in an email to residents.
