Man Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Car in Smithtown: PD

The 66-year-old was hit while walking on Main Street on Sunday afternoon.

SMITHTOWN, NY - A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car in Smithtown on Sunday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.

Carmine Mandarano, 66, of Northport was in the westbound lane on Main Street when he was struck by a Dodge pickup truck that was turning onto Main Street from Lawrence Avenue.

Mandarano was transported via Smithtown Fire Department ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the Dodge, 23-year-old Richard O’Connor, of Kings Park, was not injured.

The Dodge was impounded for a safety check.
