• Suffolk County To Distribute 240K Rabies Vaccine Baits This Fall (patch.com) — Rabies vaccine baits are being dropped across Smithtown and neighboring towns through Oct. 1 as Suffolk County works to stop the spread of terrestrial rabies. Health officials say the fish-scented packets are safe for people and pets, and will be tossed from marked county vehicles into raccoon-friendly areas around local neighborhoods.
