Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Hit by Car
BREAKING: The woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
LAKE GROVE, NY - A pedestrian was seriously injured after getting hit by a car in Lake Grove on Thursday night, according to Suffolk Police.
Cynthia Smith, 56, of Stony Brook was driving a 2002 Chrysler minivan westbound on Route 347 at 7 p.m. when she struck Benito Martinez, 44, of Port Jefferson Station that was in her lane of travel west of New Moriches Road, police said.
Smith immediately pulled over and called 911.

Martinez was transported by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Smith and her passenger, Patricia Smith, 79, of Stony Brook were not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
