Police: Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Car in Central Islip

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a car in Central Islip Saturday night, police said.

According to police, Marlon Santos, 27, of Central Islip, was struck by a 2004 Mitsubishi Montero that was travelling north on Joshuas Path at 10:14 p.m.

Santos was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, Diana Gallardo, 53, of Coram, remained at the scene and was uninjured.

The investigation is continuing and detectives are looking for additional vehicles that may have also been involved in the crash. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
