Police: Sound Beach Man Killed in Smithtown Crash
Fatal crash at the intersection of Route 347 and Route 111 early Wednesday.
A Sound Beach man was killed in a two-car crash in Smithtown early Wednesday, police said.
According to police, Mitchell Sussman, 54, was driving a 2006 Subaru Forester east on Route 347 when his vehicle was struck by a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was heading south on Route 111 at about 2:05 a.m.
Sussman was transported via Smithtown Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Jeep, Tara Grandinetti, 30, of Bellport, was transported to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown where she was treated and released.
The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. No criminal charges have been filed. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
