Smithtown High School East Research Coordinator Honored By Harvard Club
Congratulations to Maria Zeitlin!

The Harvard Club of Long Island recently recognized Smithtown High School East science research coordinator Maria Zeitlin as a Distinguished Teacher for 2017.
Zeitlin is one of only 40 to 60 teachers across Long Island to be awarded this distinction.
She was nominated for the award by one of her former students who now attend the college’s undergraduate program.

The student wrote, “a mentor, who had a major impact on my life and academic career, Ms. Zeitlin spearheaded the research program that gave students, including me, the opportunity to compete in science competitions nationwide. Ms. Zeitlin created a family-like atmosphere in the classroom, demonstrating the importance of teamwork and also that it is important to have fun while learning.”
Another Smithtown High School East teacher, Joe Rodichok, was also recognized as a Distinguished Teacher.
