Smithtown High School East Students Craft Messages For Veterans
The cards expressed gratitude to veterans of the United States military.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Students from Smithtown High School East created cards and wrote thoughtful messages to veterans in honor of Veterans Day, according to the Smithtown Central School District.
The cards expressed gratitude for veterans' service. Instead of their usual Veterans Day art and essay contests, Genser Cona Elder Law asked students across Long Island to create cards or artwork to send to the veterans at the Long Island State Veterans Home. The 350 veterans who live at the home have been unable to visit their families and friends due to the coronavirus pandemic. The hope is that the cards will help bring them some joy.
