Smithtown Police Blotter: Shotgun Stolen From St. James Home

Cash and jewelry were also stolen from the burglarized home, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Oct. 17: Criminal mischief (fourth-degree) was reported on Veterans Memorial Highway in Smithtown at 3:41 p.m. Somebody damaged a political sign at a home, police said.
  • Oct. 16: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on East Hill Drive in St. James from July 30 at noon. Somebody used someone else's Home Depot credit card at various Home Depot locations to make charges on purchases, police said.
  • Oct. 14: Criminal mischief (third-degree) was reported on New Moriches Road in Lake Grove from Oct. 13 at 6:32 a.m. Someone keyed the driver's side doors on a woman's car, police said.
  • Oct. 12: Burglary (second-degree) was reported on Plane Tree Lane in St. James from Oct. 9 at 2:29 p.m. Someone entered a home after breaking a window lock and stole cash, jewelry and a shotgun, police said.
  • Oct. 11: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove at 3:35 p.m. Two people entered the AT&T store in Smith Haven Mall and stole two iPhones by cutting the security devices off of them, police said.
