Smithtown School Budget Vote, Trustee Election Results Are In
Smithtown Central School District residents headed to the polls Tuesday.

Voters in the Smithtown Central School District easily approved a 2016-17 school budget on Tuesday.
The $151.5 million budget was approved by a margin of 2,665-921. The budget is a 2.05 percent spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 1.02 percent hike in the school tax levy.
Challenger Daniel Lynch defeated incumbent Theresa Knox by a margin of 2,171-1,197 for a seat on the Smithtown Board of Education. Michael Saidens (1,870) won the other open seat over fellow challengers Robert Montana (657) and Robert Foster (734).
