Smithtown Students Sail Through First School Day
Smithtown Central School District welcomed back students and staff on Sept. 5 to kick off the 2018-2019 school year.

SMITHTOWN, NY - From Smithtown Central School District: Smithtown Central School District opened its doors for the 2018-2019 school year for students and staff ready to start a new academic adventure on Sept. 5. With backpacks filled to capacity, elementary students filed into their respective buildings to meet their new teachers, explore their classrooms and connect with their friends. Middle and high school students were all smiles as they entered their schools, checking their lockers, walking through their new schedules and meeting their teachers.
During the summer, incoming kindergartners had a chance to meet their new classmates and explore their new buildings. The three middle schools also held sixth-grade orientations to help newcomers get acquainted to their surroundings. Ninth-grade students at Smithtown High Schools East and West received their
schedules and lockers and toured their respective buildings prior to the start of the school year.
After reconnecting with their friends, students began to ease into their new routines and settled in for a productive school year.
