Smithtown Woman Dies of Injuries From August House Fire

The woman and her two children were rescued from the fire that broke out at her home in August.

A Smithtown woman who was rescued along with her two children from a fire that broke out at her home back in August recently died from her injuries.

Kristen Sidik, 36, who was being treated at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after months of treatment at Stony Brook University Hospital, passed away on Thursday, according to a report in Newsday.

“All the doctors and nurses, they became part of our family,” her brother, Bryan Henniger, told Newsday. “All the doctors that we’ve seen or talked to really helped her. They gave her a chance.”

Sidik and her two children — a 3-year-old daughter and a 6-month-old son — were hospitalized with smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at their Sterling Lane home on Aug. 24.

The children were released from the hospital a few weeks ago, Newsday reports.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Moloney's Hauppauge Funeral Home on 840 Wheeler Road.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday starting at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

In addition to her children, Sidik is survived by her husband, Thomas, her parents, Lloyd and Donna Henniger, as well as her siblings Bryan and Kevin Henninger and Kelly Jambor.
