The Scripps Spelling Bee is the nation’s largest and longest-running educational promotion. It’s purpose is to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives. Students prepare for the local rounds using a variety of materials provided by Scripps and Merriam-Webster, with the goal of advancing to the Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held in Washington, D.C. this May.
