Woman Dies From Injuries Suffered in Crash Near Smith Haven Mall
The 34-year-old woman died a day after two-car crash in Lake Grove, police said Thursday.

A 34-year-old Centereach woman died from her injuries sustained in a two-car crash near the Smith Haven Mall last week, police said Thursday.
Corinne Maloney was listed in critical condition after the Sept. 2 crash. She died at the hospital on Sept. 3, police said.
According to police, 34-year-old Christopher Ferchland, of Farmingville, was driving a 2007 Lincoln MKL pickup truck west on Route 25 when his vehicle struck a 2015 Honda Crosstour, driven by 50-year-old Jeanette Acevedo, who was traveling east on Route 25 and attempting to make a left hand turn into the Smith Haven Mall parking lot at about 7 p.m. on Sept. 2.

The pickup truck then hit a utility pole. Ferchland and Maloney were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital. Ferchland was listed in critical condition. Police have not provided an update on his condition.
Acevedo, of Brentwood, and her female passenger were also transported to Stony Brook and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
