19-Year-Old Charged In Hamptons Fatal Hit-And-Run: Cops
The deliveryman was found lying dead on County Road 39 in Southampton, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A 19-year-old Southampton man has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run that left a deliveryman from Pennsylvania dead on County Road 39 last month, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, Chace Quinn was arrested on Monday after a lengthy investigation.
Quinn was apprehended on Sunrise Highway by New York State Police at 2:30 a.m. Monday, arrested, and charged with first degree vehicular manslaughter, a felony, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a felony, police said.

Additionally, Quinn was charged with second degree gang assault, a felony, from a March 31, 2018 incident, police said. Police said they were unable to comment on whether Quinn had alleged gang ties.
Quinn is slated to be arraigned Tuesday morning at Southampton Town Justice Court.

On April 5 at 2:30 a.m., Southampton Town Police responded to reports of someone lying in the roadway on County Road 39; patrol units responded and found a deceased man lying in the roadway, police said.
The Southampton Town Department's detective division responded and initiated the investigation into the cause of the accident.
The victim, Joseph Lynn McAlla, 63, from Clifford, PA, was making a delivery to Southampton Masonry, police said. McAlla had apparently exited his vehicle when he was struck and killed by a vehicle that left the scene, police said.
The arrest was a result of a joint investigation between the Southampton Town Police Department's detective division, the New York State Police Department's accident reconstruction unit and New York State Police's investigative unit; assistance was also provided from the United States Marshall Service, the Suffolk County Police Department, and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, throughout the investigation.
The investigation into the crash is continuing and Southampton Town Police Department's detective division is asking anyone with information to contact detectives at 631-702-2230.
Southampton Village Police also lodged charges against Quinn stemming from a Dec. 4, 2017 incident that resulted in second degree obstruction of governmental administration, a misdemeanor; New York State Police also charged Quinn with second degree menacing, a misdemeanor, for an incident that occurred on March 16, 2018, police said.
