4 New Full-Time Southampton Police Officers Join Force
One of the new police officers is trained in counterterrorism and speaks fluent Spanish, the Southampton police chief says.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Southampton Town's police force is bolstering its ranks.
The Southampton town board welcomed four new police officers at a work session Thursday, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman said.
Of those, three part-time officers were elevated to full time status, including Police Officers Ryan Miller, John Hancock, and Josiah Hoshyla. Southampton Police Officer Caryl Pfeiffer was recruited from the New York Police Department, Schneiderman said.

Chief Steven Skyrnecki said Police Officers Miller, Hancock and Hoshyla have been serving as part time seasonal police officers "with excellent performance records."
Police Officer Pfeiffer comes to the department from the NYPD, where she worked in Manhattan for four years; Chief Skrynecki said she received special training in counterterrorism and speaks fluent Spanish.

The officers will undergo a period of supervised field training as they acclimate to their new positions, Schneiderman said.
