• Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Pickup Truck In Flanders: Police (patch.com) — A 37-year-old Flanders resident died after being struck by a pickup truck on Flanders Road near Oak Avenue, prompting a response from Southampton Town police and local ambulance crews. Detectives impounded the vehicle for a safety inspection and are asking anyone with information to contact the Southampton Town Police Department's detective division.
• Islander breaks world record for chin-ups: David Brush's 24-hour odyssey of pain and triumph (timesreview.com) — Shelter Islander David Brush completed 10,001 chin-ups in 24 hours at home, shattering the world record while raising over $15,000 for Parkinson's research. Among his supporters were trainers from Rock Steady Boxing in Sag Harbor, a free Parkinson's exercise program sponsored by Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. His family says the feat was less about records and more about honoring loved ones affected by the disease.
