Bookkeeper Stole Almost $20K: Police
The Mastic woman was arrested by Southampton Village Police and held in lieu of $7,500 bail, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Mastic woman stole almost $20,000 while employed as a bookkeeper, police said.
According to Southampton Village Police, Lakeida Dent, 41, was arrested on Oct. 8 at 1:22 p.m. and charged with two counts of third degree grand larceny and second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, both felonies.
Dent, who was employed as a bookkeeper, is alleged to have stolen nearly $20,000 over a period from Nov., 2017 to May, 2018, police said.

At her arraignment, she was remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside in lieu of $7,500 bail, police said.
