SOUTHAMPTON, NY — For so many students who should have been enjoying senior year with prom, graduation, and other milestone events, the coronavirus crisis has meant that sadly, dreams and long-awaited celebrations have been put on hold.

Patch would like to shine a light on these amazing young people and their accomplishments; a new series "Celebrate Your Senior!" launched this week, inviting proud parents and others to spotlight the young people whose accomplishments can't be derailed by coronavirus.

Monique Wisniewski nominated her son Aidan Wisniewski Campo, a senior at Southampton High School. Aidan is an honor roll student, "who strives to always do his best," she said. "He is our only child, so you can imagine how devastated we all are that we will not be able to see him receive his diploma in a traditional ceremony."

Aidan, she said, has always been a self motivator and self-starter, who always works his hardest and takes school very seriously.

"Voted most likely to be president, Aidan has aspirations of politics and law," she said.

Aidan has been accepted to Gettysburg College but has not made a final decision.

During his high school journey, he has been an active member of the town's Youth Court, Youth Bureau, tennis team, and chess club, along with other school groups.

"Aidan was chosen by the League of Women Voters to represent them in Albany at a conference but, unfortunately, that was canceled due to the coronavirus as well as his Youth Bureau trip to the capitol," Wisniewki said. "Both would have occurred this spring."

But coronavirus cannot dim her son's bright future, she said. "We could not have been more blessed with a more responsible, kind, committed young man, and we look forward to see what is in store for him and his future. He is destined for great things. He makes us proud every day and we love him dearly."

Congratulations, Aidan Wisniewski Campo!
