'Concert For Caregivers' To Help Stony Brook Southampton Hospital

All artists involved have donated their videos, many of which were shot in their own homes, event organizers say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A "Concert for Caregivers" is coming this Memorial Day weekend to benefit Stony Brook Southampton Hospital's "Healthcare Heroes Fund For COVID-19."

The concert is presented by Progressive Radio for Long Island, 92.9 & 96.9 WEHM. The event is a virtual music festival, featuring videos from national recording artists frequently heard on the 'EHM playlist, including Lucinda Williams, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Pete Yorn, KT Tunstall, The Killers, The Lone Bellow, and more, a release said. All artists have donated their videos, many of which were recorded in their on homes.

Local East End artists including Nancy Atlas, Taylor Barton, Gene Casey & the Lone Sharks, Inda Eaton, Caroline Doctorow and others have also contributed videos.

"We are so grateful to all the staff at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, especially now, during this pandemic," said Lauren Stone, owner and midday host of WEHM. "Thanks to the generosity of all these musicians, we can gather together in supporting and raising funds for our local health care heroes."

The "Concert for Caregivers" is presented by Redi Cleaners. The concert begins on Friday and will run through Monday, May 25 here.

The "Healthcare Heroes Fund For COVID-19" at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, the websiteexplained, helps with preparations in the battle against coronavirus, including ensuring ample staffing; identifying areas of the hospital that can accommodate additional beds to expand capacity; and acquiring equipment, technology, and supplies to accommodate a potential patient surge.

"It will take heroic action to see us through these challenging times but we are committed to doing everything that we possibly can to care for our communities," the site said.
