Explosive Found On Noyac Beach, Authorities Detonate Device
BREAKING: Authorities detonated the explosive on the beach rather than transport it through any neighborhoods, police said.

NOYAC, NY — An explosive device was found on a Noyac beach on Saturday, Southampton Town Police said.
According to Southampton Town Police Lt. Susan Ralph, a call came in at 1:13 p.m. after a passerby saw a package labeled "explosive" on the beach on Long Beach Road and contacted authorities.
"Police responded and determined it was explosive material and requested Suffolk County bomb" techs, she said. The Suffolk County Emergency Services Unit, a sergeant, and two bomb techs responded, she said.

Ralph added that the material in the device is used to quarry rocks and could have been in the rocks during the entire time the rocks had been at the location.
