EAST QUOGUE, NY — No one should be alone on Christmas Day. That's the heartfelt emotion behind a free community holiday dinner that's being offered in East Quogue this year.

"Will you or someone you know be home alone on Christmas Day? Perhaps you know someone living in an apartment that lacks full size oven? Recently lose a loved one, and fear how hard it will be this holiday? Or just looking for a way to connect with neighbors this Christmas?" a post on Facebook by Liz Jackson read. "Please join us for a free community dinner."

The dinner will be held on Christmas Day from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the East Quogue United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, located at 570 Montauk Highway. The focus, organizers said, is "on coming together to share a good hot meal with friends and neighbors."

A turkey and ham will be served, plus sides. "If you would like to join us and bring a dish, feel free. But no strings attached," the post said. "We want everyone to know they are welcome to just stop in, get warm, and enjoy a nice meal with friendly faces."
