Hamptons Doctor Show ‘Royal Pains’ New Season Begins
Scenes for the cable network show were filmed on location in the Hamptons.
The third season premiere of “Royal Pains” broadcasts Wednesday night on USA, and it will include scenes filmed on location in Southampton Village and surrounding areas and some familiar local faces.
The one-hour medical drama/comedy is centered on Dr. Hank Lawson (Mark Feuerstein), who is starting his second summer in the Hamptons as a concierge doctor to the well-heeled community. He is also always jumping in to help out in emergencies.
In the premiere, Dr. Lawson is pulled into service — with his brother (Paulo Costanzo) and physician assistant (Reshma Shetty) at his side — when a sports car and crash in Southampton Village’s Monument Square. The scene was filmed in April and Village Mayor Mark Epley has a cameo, playing himself.

The three members of HankMed hear the crash while they are meeting on Main Street in front of . Yours truly, the Southampton Patch editor, can be seen during the scene. East Hampton residents, Cathy Dransfield, Rune Lind and other locals also played extras, though most of the background actors were bused in from New York City.
The parking lot was used as a staging area for the cast and crew and the was used as a holding are for extras between scenes. was dressed up to look like a post office. The village received more than $20,000 for accommodating the production.

In addition to Main Street and Monument Square, “Royal Pains” also filmed at private residences on Meadow Lane and Captain’s Neck Lane in April.
The new season premieres at 9 p.m. Wednesday on USA. It re-broadcasts at 12:15 a.m. and 11 p.m. Thursday
