In Senate Primary, Fleming Casts Her Ballot in Noyac

Shortly after polls opened at 8 a.m. Thursday, New York State Senate candidate Bridget Fleming voted for herself in the Democratic primary.

Fleming voted at in Noyac, accompanied by her husband, Bob Agoglia, and son Jai Agoglia.

"I'm feeling confident," Fleming said just before casting her ballot. "Obviously, we're working very hard and we'll be working up until the polls close."

She said she is taking nothing for granted and volunteers are getting out the vote all day.

"We expect low turnout today," Fleming admitted, citing that the election was moved from Tuesday to Thursday, there is only once race on the ballot, and the state primary was seperated from the federal primary date. "Although the weather is beautiful, which is great," she added.

Fleming said that she is looking forward to the general election, should Democratic voters chose her.

Fleming has already secured the endorsement of the Working Families Party, so her name will appear on the November ballot regardless of the Democratic primary results.

The candidate is a Southampton Town councilwoman and matrimonial attorney, and a former prosecutor.

In the primary, Fleming is up against Jennifer Maertz, of Rocky Point, a litigation attorney. The victor of Thursday's primary will go on to challenge Republican state Sen. Kenneth LaValle., of Port Jefferson.

Polls close at 9 p.m. Only registered Democrats may vote.
